Implementation of Structured Choice Based Credit System through CAMU Software

CAMU is a software which helps to achieve academic excellence for CAMPUS AND U. It is a SaaS based (Software as a service), Cloud Solution for Higher Education. CAMU has been very helpful in automating Curriculum Design, Content Delivery, Assessment and Evaluation of Engineering Education process at our Institution.

Google Class Room

Google Classroom is a free collaboration tool for teachers and students. Teachers can create an online classroom, invite students to the class then create and distribute assignments. Within the Google Classroom students and teachers can have conversations about the assignments and teachers can track the student's progress. Schools must register for a free Google Apps for Education account to use Classroom.

NPTEL (National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning)

We have installed a 4.0 TB hard disk drive of NPTEL (National program for Technology Enhanced Learning) content of 800 courses from 17 disciplines of Engineering, Science & Humanities Streams and software for content management system and video streaming called as NPTEL-Local Guru. This can be accessed by all students and staffs through their desktops, laptops and mobiles.

Advanced NPTEL online certification courses are approved for Faculty Development Programme(FDP) by AICTE. MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses) of NPTEL are not full time training programs like regular FDPs, their equivalence to regular FDPs, shall be considered as under:

NPTEL (National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning) – Local Guru

Local Guru is an Effective Learning Platform for Academic Exams. Local Guru helps the students to learn from the best teachers and helps them do well in academic exams and technical competitive exams. It helps students, faculty and management to achieve high level of success in professional education. Local Guru is a software platform that manages hosts and delivers the best content in the world for local needs. It will be installed in the Local Area Network (LAN) of educational institutions. Local Guru can manage and stream video lectures from NPTEL, MIT, Stanford, etc. The software contains a HTTP video streaming facility . NPTEL Videos are indexed in this CMS (Content Management System) and can be searched with various keywords. It provides topic specific assessments and performance analysis of all the students. Local Guru can be used as part of their teaching learning process. Local Guru can be accessed through Digital Classrooms in the college to enable effective learning.

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active – Learning for Young Aspiring Minds)

SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all.SWAYAM platform is indigenously developed by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with the help of Microsoft and would be ultimately capable of hosting 2000 courses and 80000 hours of learning: covering school, under-graduate, post-graduate, engineering, law and other professional courses.SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.This is done through an indigenous developed IT platform that facilitates hosting of all the courses, taught in classrooms from 9th class till post-graduation to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. All the courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and are available, free of cost to the residents in India.

The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants

• (1) Video lecture
• (2) Specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed
• (3) Self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and
• (4) An online discussion forum for clearing the doubts.

Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however students wanting certifications shall be registered, shall be offered a certificate on successful completion of the course, with a little fee. At the end of each course, there will be an assessment of the student through proctored examination and the marks/grades secured in this exam could be transferred to the academic record of the students. UGC has already issued the UGC (Credit Framework for online learning courses through SWAYAM) Regulation 2016 advising the Universities to identify courses where credits can be transferred on to the academic record of the students for courses done on SWAYAM.SWAYAM is an instrument for self-actualization providing opportunities for a life-long learning. Here learner can choose from hundreds of courses, virtually every course that is taught at the university / college / school level and these shall be offered by best of the teachers in India and elsewhere. If a student is studying in any college, he/she can transfer the credits earned by taking these courses into their academic record. If you are, working or not working, in school or out of school, SWAYAM presents a unique educational opportunity to expand the horizons of knowledge.
