National Conference on “Exploration of Innovations in Agriculture, Food Processing and Nutraceuticals”, on 05 Sep 2019

The Department of Biotechnology, Vinayaka Missions Kirupananda Variyar Engineering College, a constituent college of Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem organized a National Conference on “Exploration Of Innovations In Agriculture, Food Processing and Nutraceuticals”-EIAFPN 19on 5th September 2019.The conference was supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD),Chennai, Tamilnadu.The conference was inaugurated by lighting of kuthuvilakku by Dr.A.Nagappan, Prinicipal, Vinayaka Missions KirupanandaVariyar Engineering College, Dr.M.Sridevi, Convener, Ms.A.BhamaBuvaneswari, DDM, NABARD, Salem, Chief Guest Dr.P. MurugesaBoopathi, Former Vice Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore &Managing Director, HiFi Biotech India Pvt Ltd,Guest of HonorEr. N. Senthil Kumar, COO & Partner, Global Lab and Consultancy Services, Salem and Dr. B.S. Venkateswarlu, Professor & HOI of Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy, Salem. Dr.M.Sridevi, Convener welcomed the gathering.Dr.A.Nagappan,delivered the presidential address. Conference proceedings and CD was released by the dignitaries on the dias. Ms.A.BhamaBuvaneswari,gave a Plenary speech about the theme of the conference and various schemes in the field of agriculture and rural development by NABARD. Chief guestDr.P. MurugesaBoopathigave a speech on Agricultual Biotechnology and explained about banana tissue culture and techniques to harvest high quantity and quality of bananas and genetically modified crops. Mr.Jayaraman of Vasishta Farmers Producer Company Ltd Salem, gave a special lecture on importance of technology and agriculture for budding young entrepreneurs and providingjobopportunities for the youth. He also spoke about the advantages of technology in agriculture to enhance marketing value.Er.NSenthil Kumarexplained the Role of ISO / IEC 17025 accredited laboratories on fostering innovations in Agriculture, Food Processing and Nutraceuticals. He explained the importance of maintaining soil quality, Nutritional and functional values in Food processing and nutraceuticals and laboratory requirements for the same. 32 Farmers from farmers producer company nurtured by NABARD and from peeriyaseragapadi, salem, more than 130 students and faculty members attendedthe conference. 69 research articleswere presented as oral and poster presentations.Dr. B.S. Venkateswarlu briefed about the difference inNutraceuticalsand Pharmaceutical. At the Valedictory function, Vice Principal, Prof.P.K.Kumaresan, Vinayaka Missions KirupanandaVariyar Engineering College, and Dr. B.S. Venkateswarlu distributed the prizes and certificates for the best research articles. Mrs.C.Nirmala, Organising Secretary, EIAFPN 19 delivered the vote of thanks.
