The Department of Electronics and Communication was
started in the year 1987. It is the oldest and most active department
of the institute. It is a full-fledged academic department for
emerging ECE engineers. The department has spacious laboratories
and state-of-the-art equipment for various laboratories.
Objective
To produce engineering professional well versed in Communication
Engineering to meet the ever growing needs of communication
technology.
In Academic
1) We produced 100%results in the year 2003-2004 BE examinations
conducted by Periyar University. |

2) We produced 100%results in the
year 2005-2006 M.E (EST) and M.E (ACS) examinations conducted
by Vinayaka Missions University.
3) We produced 100%results in the year 2005-2006 M.E (EST) and
M.E (AE) examinations conducted by Vinayaka Missions University.
4) In the academic year 2005-06 our department intake increased
from 60 to 156.
5) In the academic year 2005-06 our department intake increased
from 156 to 200.
6) Our department staff members are well qualified and experienced
in both technical and academic side..
7) Our Staff student ratio is 1:15 which is recommended ratio
by AICTE.
8) Our department offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
in all disciplines of Engineering and Technology.

Lab Facilities · New equipments
were purchased for "RF" lab worth Rs.6 lakhs in the
year 2005. · New LCD projector was purchased for
Rs.1 lakh & 35 thousand. · Digital signal processing
lab is newly constructed with 40 high configuration systems.
· Department Library functioning from 2003-2004
with 374 books
The laboratories such as Electron devices, Electronic circuit,
Communication, Microprocessor and Interfacing, Digital Signal
Processing, Analog and Digital integrated Circuits, Digital
and fiber optic communication, RF lab etc. are full established
at a cost of Rs.1.10 crore. The Vinayaka Missions University
has recognized the department, with qualified faculty and adequate
infrastructure facility, for research leading to Ph.D. |
Digital Signal Processing lab involves DSP kits of 3X and 5X
series and C50 kits. The labs are enhanced with equipments of
updated technologies.
The VLSI Lab provides latest software and kits for student usage.
The lab is equipped with ALTERA and XILINX software and trainer
kits. Designs can be implemented in ALTERA CPLD, ALTERA FPGA,
XILINX CPLD and XILINX FPGA.
The System Lab Consists of 40 Pentium IV systems. Latest simulation
tools such as OrCAD 14.2, MATLAB 6.5, CODE COMPOSER STUDIO,
and RAISONANCE SOFTWARE KIT RKITL 51 & PSPICE are available
for students use. Access to web sites for updating the knowledge
is made possible by the internet facilities.
The infrastructure provides a good environment for learning
and excellent lab facilities. The laboratories include Electron
Devices, Electronic Circuits, Microprocessor and Interfacing,
Digital Signal Processing, Microwave Communication, Analog Communication,
Fiber Optic Communications, VLSI, ASIC and Digital Image Processing
and RF lab.
The Microwave Communication Lab is updated with Bench Setup.
Spectrum Analyzer, Noise Generator, Frequency Counter, Wireless
Data Modem, Network Analyzer, DSO are the equipments that facilitate
the lab experiments.

Electronics and Communication Festival
(ELECOFEST)
The department association organizes OrCAD coaching classes,
DSP Tools training and communication skill development programmes.
National level exhibitions, National level seminars and workshops
are conducted. Guest lectures are organized in various emerging
topics. Various programmes have been conducted to enhance the
leadership qualities of the students. Association
