- Qualified and Experienced team of faculty members with
varied experience in areas of System Software, Computer
Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile and Computer
Networks, Object Oriented Design, Computer Graphics and
Image Processing, Distributed Computing, Database Management
System, Multimedia and Neural Networks.
- More than 50 technical papers presented by the faculty
in various national and international conferences.
- Organization of faculty development program on latest
developments like UML, Rational Suite Enterprise, IBM DB2
etc
- Regular credit courses on advanced topics are run to supplement the curriculum.
- Faculty members are carrying Research work in the areas of Digital Image Processing, Multimedia, Computer Networks and Distributed Operating System.
- The IT Infrastructure of the college is maintained by the department

Computer Science and Engineering department was established
in 1987 and Information Technology department was established
in 1999 to create socially responsible, strong minded technocrats
in and around Salem.

All the Servers are connected with
500 Pentium based systems through state of the art networking
with the use of manageable and auto sensing switches.
Computer Centers
The Department has 500 Pentium based Hi-end computers accommodated
in 5 computer centers with recent software and internet facility
to feed the art of computer science to our budding engineers.
Our computer centre is kept open even after the college hours
to help the students to raise their programming skills using
current and latest software tools.
Students are permitted to utilize the computer centre during
all the morning, evening session and also on Saturdays for increasing
their Programming skill using conventional and latest software
tools.
Sophisticated and latest software have been purchased to enable
the student's faculty as well as students to pursue their research
/ project works.

Wi-Fi & 8 Mbps Internet Facility
The strength for VMKVEC'S internet connectivity gets doubled
with its recent up gradation of the existing 2 Mbps connectivity
to a 8 Mbps exclusive internet connectivity that is available
anywhere in the campus in a networked environment. This enhancement
would further encourage the students and faculty members to
seek for information from the host of online databases that
VMKVEC subscribes to in addition to the wealth of information
available on the www.
This enhancement also comes in the wake of VMKVEC's move to
make the campus Wi-Fi enabled making internet browsing seamless
and convenient. The class rooms, corridors of various academic
and administrative buildings will be Wi-Fi enabled for the convenience
of faculty, students and researchers and also for students staying
in all the hostels on campus. This 8 Mbps internet connection
on a networked and Wi-Fi environment set to revolutionize the
teaching-learning mechanism at VMU University.

Human Resources
The department has stable and dedicated staff members with avid
interest to do research activities in the topics of latest fields.
Our faculty members are constantly updating their knowledge
to meet the growing demands of the student community by attending
and presenting National and International Conferences and Seminars.
More than that, we are providing friendliness and stress free
"Home away from home" environment to students to make
them as responsible and innovative persons.
CSE & IT Community Services
We have offered a Computer Awareness Training Program about
the Basics of computers for the Salem District Police personals.
We have Blood donating Club in the department comprising more
than 200 members.
Our Principal donated computers to Rackipatti Panchayat. We
are conducting Computer training programs to rural school students
who are the heart of India as told by our father of Nation Mahatma
Gandhi. |
