Department of Biotechnology was established
in the year 2005 with the following objectives:
- To develop academic excellence in the field of Bio-Technology
to cater the need of modern Industry
- Providing hands on experience in various laboratory techniques
and sophisticated analytical instruments and offering placement
training.
- Training & re-training the young engineering students
in the areas of applied biotechnology to become a world
class Bio-technologist.
- Motivating students to involve in research activities
during the course of study

Initially the Department started functioning
from the academic year 2005 - 2006 with strength of 195 students
and 8 staff members, offering B. E. (Biotechnology), and now
with strength of 322 students and 14 staff members, offering
M. E. (Biotechnology) and Ph. D. (Biotechnology) apart from
B.E. (Biotechnology) course. This drastic improvement within
a short span of time was due to the strenuous efforts taken
by the Management in making the Department excel in all facets.
Our Department has sophisticated laboratories for Bio - Organic
Chemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology,
Genetic Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering,
Instrumental Analysis, Downstream Processing and Biochemistry.

Within a short span of time, our Department was
recognized for its academic excellence and best infrastructural
facilities. Our Department actively involved in carrying out
research work for faculties, research scholars and projects
for UG and PG students and consultancies for food and allied
industries. Currently, our Department is actively engaged in
signing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with industries
and research institutions in India and abroad for collaborative
research. Our Department has well - qualified faculties with
5 Doctorates, 7 Post Graduates and 2 Under Graduates pursuing
their Post Graduate. Our Department has faculties from various
disciplines like Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy,
Aquatic Biology and Life Sciences.
