| VMKVEC - Department of BioMedical Engineering (BME) |
Mission
Our mission is to inspire and work with students as we develop
and apply engineering methods to confront health science challenges.
Vision
- To provide distinctive opportunities for finding creative solutions
to biomedical engineering, research and design problems.
- To make the students to excel in undergraduate and post graduate
education; meaningful and innovative research; and service dedicated
to advancing the field of Biomedical Engineering.
|
 |
Objectives
- To impart knowledge towards the application of engineering
concepts and analytical techniques to biological and medical
problems
- To develop new concepts, instrumentation, and materials
for use with living systems
- To keep the students abreast of new technologies in the
field of medicine and biotechnology and to make them an
intelligent resource to look after the most expensive part
of the hospitals.
- To emphasize teamwork, communication skills, and hands-on
laboratory and research experience
- To provide more opportunities in the field of biomedical
engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical
technology, as well as careers in academia and government
The department was established with an undergraduate programme
in Biomedical Engineering in 2003. The PG programme was inaugurated
in the year 2004-2005.

Courses Offered
B.E. - Biomedical Engineering
M.E. - Biomedical Engineering Laboratories
1. Biomedical Instrumentation Lab
2. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment Lab
3. Human Physiology Lab
Vinayaka Missions Hi-Tech Hospital
The department is very well supported by the Vinayaka Missions
Hi-Tech Hospital. The hospital is having all sophisticated biomedical
equipment where our students are trained. |

RESEARCH
Many research activities are going on in the department, in
the areas of Bio Signal Processing, Bio Image Processing, Biomedical
Instrumentation and Bio Materials.
Association of Biomedical Engineers
The Association of Biomedical Engineers (ABME)
of the department was inaugurated on 25th September, 2006.
The technical association is a forum where the students can
deliver seminars, participate in quiz programmes and attend
guest lectures to enrich their knowledge. The students are permitted
to undergo inplant training in various hospitals and biomedical
equipment manufacturing industries. They are also permitted
to visit hospitals and industries. |
